Kutna Hora
Kutna Hora was founded in the 12th century as a mining settlement. Towards the end of the 13th century it developed into one of the most lively and prosperous towns in Bohemia. Kuttenberg achieved this through silver mining and the famous coinage of Prague groschen. It was the second largest city in Bohemia after Prague until a large part of Kuttenberg's population was murdered during the Hussite Wars in the 1420s. After that the town lost much of its importance. Today the old town of Kuttenberg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
